AURICHALCITE   Palermo Mine, N. Groton,
1.5 mm field of view. Aurichalcite "fur" on top of malachite.

Species:           AURICHALCITE
Locality:         Palermo Mine, N. Groton, NH
Specimen Size: 1.5 mm field of view. Aurichalcite "fur" on top of malachite.
Field Collected: ex. Forrest Fogg ?

Notes: The EDS analysis of the malachite showed about a 5% zinc content, suggesting some Zn replacement of Cu. Therefore, aurichalcite, a zinc-coppper mineral, is a reasonable identification.

AURICHALCITE  Stoddard Mine, Westmoreland, NH
1.0 mm field of view
Species:           AURICHALCITE
Locality:         Stoddard Mine, Westmoreland, NH
Specimen Size: 3.2 mm field of view and 1.0 mm FOV close-up
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer
Catalog No.: u2659
Notes: Reviewing my lot of un-cataloged Stoddard malachite micros collected years ago, I found this. Visually, a good match for aurichalcite. A couple of typical Stoddard Mine micro barite crystals are also on this specimen. Aurichalcite has not been previously reported from the Stoddard Mine.
